Qui-Ona P.

Qui-Ona has been passionate about music for most of her life. She wrote her first song at the age of 7, started on violin in 4th grade, and then picked up guitar and piano in 2008. She has been sharing her love of music ever since.

After her childhoood music education, Qui-Ona went on to study guitar, piano, and music production at the collegiate level. She earned her Associate of Arts degree in Audio Engineering and Music Production from Atlanta Institute of Music. She then earned her BFA in Music Production from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, graduating summa cum laude.

Qui-Ona gained her initial teaching experience while working as a tutor and alternative education service leader. In those positions, Qui-Ona and her teammates instructed various after-school clubs at several schools around Atlanta for grades K-9, including guitar, chess, gardening, and math. She also had the pleasure of serving as a nanny in Decatur, GA, and she gave lessons in guitar, keyboarding, and songwriting as a part of her work with the children.

Qui-Ona has now been teaching for over 15 years. She offers private guitar and piano lessons to students of all ages. She helps her students learn by first exploring what their interests are, then by creating a curriculum with the student's visions and goals as a determining factor. She uses encouragement and fun assignments to keep students engaged in constantly learning new techniques. Qui-Ona is passionate about helping students explore creativity and confidence through music. She prides herself on having a diverse background in music, and enjoys all styles and genres, with a particular love for guitar, keys, big pop vocals, and creativity. Qui-Ona wants every student to be able to use their understanding of music theory and their own individual uniqueness as a basis for exploring self-expression, freedom, and inspiration.

Although she's been busy with teaching, Qui-ona has been creating and performing for many years as well. Qui-Ona is a seasoned songwriter, and in her creative process, she blends classical training with R&B, Hip Hop, and experimental sounds, She’s also an experienced audio engineer with expertise in Pro Tools, sound design, and post-production. Her professional work includes live and studio recording, producing original music, and creating her sound design library, Sounds Beyond Nature. Qui-Ona enjoys staying active as a performer throughout the Atlanta area.
