Classical guitarist Brentley Cauthen graduated cum laude from Kennesaw State University with a degree in Music Education. He studied guitar with Mary Akerman and voice with Eileen Moreman, and was a member of the Kennesaw State Guitar Ensemble as well as the KSU Chorale and Men's Ensemble.

A Georgia native, Mr. Cauthen was born to a musical family, with a grandmother and grandfather who both played piano and organ. He began taking piano lessons regularly at an early age. Then he discovered guitar at the age of 15, and immediately sought instruction from his neighborhood guitar teacher, Kevin Byrd. At 17, he began taking lessons at the Amelia Arts Academy in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Mr. Cauthen attended Mercer University on music and academic scholarship, studying under Terry Cantwell, before coming to Kennesaw to continue his musical studies.

As a teacher, Mr. Cauthen believes in developing students' musicianship through the application of knowledge and technique. He emphasizes theory and improvisation skills as a way to expand his students' musical understanding and seeks to expand their musical tastes beyond pop music to incorporate numerous styles, including (but not limited to) classical, jazz, blues, classic rock, world and folk. He plans each student's lessons around their personal strengths and weakness and strives to mold them into intelligent, confident, and well-rounded musicians.

Mr. Cauthen's studio has grown substantially since he began teaching private lessons in 2010. With almost 10 years of guitar experience, he devotes himself entirely to his teaching. He is currently accepting new students for in home Guitar (classical, electric, acoustic), Piano, Ukulele, and Bass Guitar.
