Alabama A & M University
Bachelor's in Music
Jaylan Aaron
Piano

Jaylan Aaron started playing the piano at age 10. He would visit his grandmother's house, where she had a piano. He sat down to play, and she put stickers on the keys to teach him a song entitled "Chopsticks! "

Jaylan first started on drums in church—yes, a church boy! He eventually went to the piano and organ from there! He then continued music from elementary to high school, participating in the Chorus and marching Band, playing Trumpet and Euphonium.

Later, he attended Alabama A&M University to play the euphonium in the Marching band. He majored in Music Business and Minored in Piano Pedagogy.

Jaylan's musical journey has been enriched by his experiences in the Gospel Industry, where he has had the privilege of performing and traveling with a diverse range of talented individuals. His collaborations with Pastor Mike Jr. , Demetrius  West & JP , and Lawrence Flowers & Intercession have not only honed his skills but also inspired his musical spirit. He is a proud member of Victory Cathedral Worship Center, under the leadership of the esteemed Pastor Smokie Norful.

Jaylan has always had influential people to assist him on this musical journey! His mentor, Jason A. Smith, his school band director, gave him a great path to success as a musician. His work ethic was top-tier, and it geared Jaylan with the tools for his musical journey in life, from on the instruments to off the instruments!

Jaylan was self-taught until he found teachers who made it easier for him to understand and learn. Out of his love for music and people, he then began to pass on the knowledge and teach music to people of all ages!

He ensures every student walks away with a greater understanding of the foundation of each lesson.

He provides piano books, lesson plans, and consistency to ensure we keep track of what is being learned and how far the student has come. He also offers incentives to ensure the student(s) reach their goals, such as gift cards, snack bags, or candy—per approval, of course!
