Dianne Brooks

Dianne Brooks began learning how to play the piano at the age of three, with her musically talented father as her first teacher.  At age four, after attending a funeral service, she requested to be taught how to play the hymn that was sung in church. Upon the recommendation of her kindergarten teacher, she was enrolled in formal lessons due to her natural talent and sense of rhythm. By age seven Dianne was enrolled with the St. Louis Institute of Music and went on to take 11 years of private piano and theory lessons from a very talented classical piano teacher, who was a graduate of the institute.

Dianne became a classical concert pianist at a very young age, performing several concerts per year and performing all of her pieces from memory.  She was a member of Pi Mu, a national honor society for musicians.  She also played her classical pieces for judges and recorded two records, which won her gold medals in school.

Dianne began her piano teaching career right out of high school, and has taught adults and children of all ages for more than 30 years. She teaches from a variety of books and songs and her students will learn to read music and gain a foundation in music theory. Her goal is to teach students to eventually be able to play for their own enjoyment.

Dianne holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from John Brown University and has taught a variety of subjects in grades K-12, as well as trade and technical education.  She holds multiple teaching certificates, including one in Special Education, and has helped students to overcome a variety of challenges along their musical journeys. She looks forward to sharing her gift of music with you or your child.
