Darius Brandenburg was born and raised in the heart of Motown, Detroit. He is a seasoned musician with a diverse range of talents now residing in the vibrant city of Atlanta. From a remarkably young age, Darius exhibited a profound passion for music, embarking on a journey that has seen him excel as a drummer, producer, DJ and educator.
At the tender age of 14, Darius took his first steps onto the stage and into the recording studio, where he began honing his craft as a drummer. His exceptional talent caught the attention of the music industry, leading to the remarkable milestone of signing his first record deal at the age of 16. He released a compelling drum and bass EP through an independent German electronic music label, cementing his status as a prodigious talent in the electronic music scene.
Throughout his high school years, Darius continued to seamlessly fuse his drumming prowess with electronic music production, showcasing an unwavering commitment to his artistry.
In pursuit of broadening his musical horizons, Darius made the pivotal decision to relocate to Berlin at the age of 19. In this dynamic European hub, he not only continued to produce electronic music but also ventured into the realm of DJing, captivating audiences with his unique sound. During the week, he extended his talents by teaching English at a bilingual kindergarten.
The next chapter of Darius's musical odyssey led him to Windhoek, Namibia, where he immersed himself in the rich tapestry of traditional African music for an impressive three years at The Namibian College of Arts. Here, he expanded his instrumental repertoire, mastering the guitar, djembe, piano, marimba, mbira, and acquiring the valuable experience of teaching these instruments to children. This journey culminated in Darius graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in ethnomusicology, showcasing his dedication to understanding the cultural significance of music.
Armed with his extensive musical knowledge and production expertise, Darius transitioned into the world of performing arts and started teaching in 2017. He collaborated with dance companies and theater groups, assuming roles as musical director and live musician, contributing his unique soundscapes to mesmerizing performances.
In 2018, Darius returned to Atlanta, where he continued to leave an indelible mark on the music scene. He revitalized his career as a DJ by curating and hosting community-building events and became a sought-after private music teacher. Darius' versatility knows no bounds. He seamlessly navigates diverse musical landscapes, crafting live theater music and sound effects, performing with metal bands as well as producing commercial music.
