Darryl "DJ" Perry has an extensive background in music performance as well as music education. Starting out in his hometown of Jackson, TN, he began playing piano and trumpet during his developmental years. In high school, he began to realize the full extent of his natural penchant for, and understanding of, music. It was at this time that he began to focus on his vocal performance skills. He enrolled at the University of Memphis and majored in Music/Entertainment, studying both musical performance and theory, as well as sound engineering and technical components of the entertainment industry. After graduating in May of 2016, he accepted a job offer for an Artist Relations position in Atlanta, the city which he has called home ever since.

In August of 2018, DJ accepted a position as a vocal instructor at a well-known music studio in Snellville, where before long he was promoted to General Manager. Working in music education quickly developed into a passion that still continues to resonate with DJ. He finds it endlessly rewarding to help others develop their own artistic skillset and to become more comfortable being themselves!  In addition to teaching, he also also writes music and records with other artists, as well as performing at local gigs as time allows.

DJ's teaching style is as flexible as his musical taste! He tailors lessons to align with each individual student's goals and aspirations, as well as setting markers to track their progress down the road. The ultimate goal is to engage the student in his or her own comfort zone, then gently ease them outside of it, showing them just how much they are capable of accomplishing.

DJ finds the theoretical approach in all genres and styles of music, and reverse engineers his lesson plans to adapt to the students' passions. He's found that this approach not only keeps students focused, but also makes the lessons something to enjoy!
