Niatesha Thompson
Voice, Piano

Originally from Knoxville, TN, Niatesha has been a lover of music since birth. Niatesha was told that as a child she was able to hum before she was able to talk. She started singing at the age of 2, and her earliest musical memory is performing for her grandmother's morning church service at the age of 4.

Niatesha began piano lessons at the age of 5, and she continued her involvement in music throughout her school years. During her elementary, middle school, and high school years, Niatesha performed in several popular choirs, including The Inner City Youth Performance Choir and the Knoxville Children's Show Choir. Niatesha has an extensive background in a wide variety of genres including opera, classical, pop, jazz, R&B, gospel, and new soul music, as well as Broadway tunes, and she is proficient in piano as well as voice.

A graduate of LeMoyne College, Niatesha received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, and continued her education by completing her Masters in Entertainment Business at Full Sail University. During 2002-2011, while attending school on a full music and academic scholarship, Niatesha studied abroad in Paris, France, Germany, England, and Switzerland. During this time, she also toured throughout the United States (including Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas) with the LeMoyne Owen Concert and Gospel Choir and The Whittaker Singers. Additional highlights include singing for for Grammy Award winning O'Lander and Associates, and singing backup vocals for Grammy artists like BeBe Winans, pastor Shirley Caesar, and Kirk Franklin. Niatesha has also performed for civil rights leader Jesse Jackson during the Dr Martin Luther King Jr Celebration, and was a background vocalist for the ballet "As The Spirit Moves You."

Niatesha decided to start teaching music for two reasons. One is her passion for music, which is a defining quality in her life. Niatesha sees music as an outlet, a way to be extremely creative and use her gifts as a blessing to others. The second reason is her great love for children. Niatesha has such a caring and motherly soul that she can connect with any child, because the student can truly feel her love and compassion for them. Niatesha wants every child she works with to develop both as a musician and an individual, and discover who they really are inside through music. Niatesha's main goal is to do whatever her students need to be successful. As a teacher she is supportive, patient, and demonstrates love and compassion for all of her students!
