Antonio Nokes earned his Bachelors of Music in Music Education and Vocal Performance from the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University. He sang under Grammy Award-winning conductor Donald Nally with Bienen's premier new music choir, BCE, for two years.
While at Northwestern, he performed in university productions of La bohème, L'Orfeo, and Les aventures du roi Pausole and served as choirmaster for El barberillo de Lavapiès. He is passionate about a wide range of musical styles, and his senior recital, Gather Up, featured selections of art song, musical theater, and bolero.
Since 2019, he has given piano, voice, and guitar private lessons and taught band, choir, and drama in the classroom. Recently he completed choral and general music student-teaching placements at the middle school and high school levels where he taught and accompanied choirs of varying experience.
Antonio believes that music lessons should be fun, enriching, and meaningful to students by drawing from students' interests and experiences. He teaches students of all ages and ability levels, aiming to support self-confidence and expression through music.
