Voice, Piano

At an early age, Arnetta "Etta" Smith found an interest in music. She began playing the recorder, and then moved on to the flute by the 3rd Grade. In middle school, she became interested in jazz and joined the school jazz band. After playing pieces by artists like Charlie Parker, Charles Mingus and Tony Bennett, Etta decided she wanted to study music in college, like her Father who studied piano at Morgan State University.

At Morgan State University, Etta studied vocal performance and sang in the Morgan State University choir. They performed interesting pieces such as Healing Tones by Hannibal Lokumbe, Requiem by Verdi and Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin. While perusing her major in voice, she also studied the flute, as she wanted to become more proficient in an instrument tht she had been playing since she was 8.

After graduating, Etta dove heavily into teaching once again. She has always worked with kids and enjoys teaching them new ways to discover the world. She looks forward to having fun and showing new students the "Music World", as well as helping them find their own voice.
