Charlie attended Emory University, earning a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. During their college years, they were awarded a tuition scholarship for string bass performance, contingent on their participation in the Emory University Symphony Orchestra. Despite their formal education in mathematics, Charlie has actively pursued a musical career, performing with the Emory Symphony and achieving recognition by winning the Youth Division of the Atlanta Blues Challenge twice. The pinnacle of their musical journey thus far was the unforgettable experience of performing Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony at Carnegie Hall with the Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra.

A pivotal figure in Charlie's musical development was their bass guitar teacher, the late Dustin "Big Red" Sargent, who imparted invaluable lessons in humility and grace in performance.

Inspired by this mentorship, Charlie found their calling as a music teacher. Their teaching career began as a junior counselor at Atlanta Rock and Blues Camp, where Charlie aimed to help students actualize their love for music. They believe in fostering a deep appreciation for the craft, aspiring for every student to learn how to love their own musical journey.

In their teaching approach, Charlie focuses on building students' confidence and honing their natural talents, creating an environment that nurtures both musical skill and a genuine love for the art.
